During my time in medical school and clinical practice, I witnessed the challenges of delivering high-quality healthcare to disadvantaged communities, both in Australia and abroad. These experiences underscored the profound impact that innovative solutions can have on vulnerable populations, but they also highlighted a persistent problem: even the most well-intentioned initiatives often fall short due to gaps in execution, systems, and processes.
Recognizing this, I’ve sought to apply my business acumen and operational expertise to drive more effective outcomes in the humanitarian space. As a co-founder of the Humanitarian Doctors Foundation, I’ve worked to address systemic issues in healthcare and education delivery, focusing on building sustainable solutions for underserved populations. One of our early initiatives, Barefoot Bali, helped over 500 Balinese schoolchildren gain access to school clothing and shoes, a project that combined grassroots fundraising with targeted community impact.
Through my work in this space, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by mission-driven organizations and how to overcome them with strategic planning, process optimization, and stakeholder alignment. These experiences have shaped my commitment to leveraging innovative approaches to solve complex healthcare challenges, particularly in areas where traditional methods have fallen short.
My passion lies in scaling impactful solutions—whether through social enterprise, charitable initiatives, or cutting-edge healthcare technologies. I believe that by applying entrepreneurial thinking to humanitarian efforts, we can drive sustainable change and improve outcomes for those who need it most.
